Milestone Construction partners have over 25 years of experience in the construction and development business. Experience includes commercial, healthcare, light industrial, multi-family, renovations, retail and tenant improvements. Whether tasked with a minor renovation or major construction project, Milestone’s experience in projects large and small, simple and complex, general and specific means it brings not only knowledge to each project, but also an understanding of how a building should, can and will work

SAM MCELREATH

PARTNER

Sam McElreath enjoys that every day is different in the construction industry. From his first residential project in high school to his work on high-profile healthcare, mixed-use and specialty projects with one of the southeast’s largest general contractors, Sam has always appreciated the effort that goes into making construction projects come together. “It’s important to maintain focus on the big picture during the construction process,” Sam explains. “But keeping track of all of the minute details is what makes a project successful.”

And Sam has been steadfast in learning how to create successful projects. After graduating from the University of Georgia, Sam spent nearly a decade working as an estimator and then as a project manager for over $400 million of commercial construction projects in the southeast. Recognizing a need for a more client-focused business, Sam founded Milestone Construction with business partner Miles Dunstan in 2012. “Providing a project that is within budget and schedule is our baseline at Milestone,” Sam says, “but we go beyond that to create projects that are successful in the eyes of every member of the team. At Milestone, we listen to our clients’ goals and vision, then work towards them – together.”

Driven by his passion to succeed and build solid relationships with his clients, Sam McElreath is a skilled construction manager who knows no better feeling than seeing an ecstatic client at the end of a project. “We are a smaller commercial general contractor” Sam acknowledges, “but pride ourselves on being professional, efficient and flexible to achieve our client’s needs.”

Under Sam’s leadership, the team at Milestone listens closely to clients’ goals and works towards them together. “There is a lot of collaboration involved in bringing our projects from preconstruction to bid to completed construction,” Sam explains. “Team work enables us to overcome challenges and make the experience enjoyable and rewarding for everyone.”

MILES DUNSTAN

PARTNER

Miles Dunstan was raised in the construction industry where his deep respect for family tradition hooked him on the process of changing the built environment. After studying Economics from the University of Georgia, Miles formally started his career with his family’s general contracting and development business in his hometown of Augusta, GA.

As part of Dunstan & Dunstan, Miles led clients through the delivery of successful commercial construction projects in multi-family, light industrial and retail markets. He found himself inspired by the entire project process – from watching concepts come alive in architectural drawings to buildings emerging from dirt and completed facilities opening for business.

Miles passion for construction led him to start his own contracting business, RCMM Construction. While working with a preferred developer, Miles constructed several projects throughout the Southeast for one of the nation’s largest retailers.

In 2012, Miles joined with Sam McElreath to establish Milestone Construction, a client-focused construction business that creates success by meeting schedules and budget goals. When faced with challenges, Milestone helps clients figure out solutions that work for every team member. “Every project will encounter challenges no matter how much forward planning is involved,” Miles explains. “Whether it’s coordinating with a municipality or something as simple as bad weather, I stay calm and focused and work with the team to mitigate those challenges.”

To Miles, being present is one of the most critical contributions a contractor can make – both in terms of physical presence on site and when listening to clients’ goals and concerns throughout the construction process. “Being available to clients through every aspect of the process is important,” Mile shares. “Every client has different levels of experience with construction. We work with them to make sure they understand the many moving parts of the project.

Building relationships with clients is his favorite part of the job. Miles enjoys getting to know them personally, and finds that by learning about other businesses, he is better equipped to grow his own.
